Our Vision

The intersection of arts, culture, and technology

The Xiong Foundation is focused on cultural conservation and the improvement of human welfare through education and technological innovation.

We support the preservation, restoration, and education of the Mogao Caves, which are located at the religious and cultural crossroads of the historical Silk Road. Housing a collection of 492 temples that house one of the most extensive and culturally significant Buddhist artwork collections in the world, the Mogao Caves were listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.

We collaborate with critically acclaimed artists to create modern works to research and celebrate our musical heritage, including Academy Award winning composer Tan Dun and his work, Buddha Passion, which premiered May 2018 at the Kulturpalast in Dresden, Germany.

We fund interdisciplinary education initiatives that will prepare students and technologies for the problems of the digital age. We support the University of Washington through the CoMotion Innovation Gap Fund, which helps technologies get across the “valley of death” between the conclusion of academic research grants and the level of development at which they can attract seed stage investment.
